Organotin(IV) derivatives of o-hydroxyacetophenone glycine

A few di-and triorganotin(IV) derivatives of o-hydroxyacetophenone glycine, of the type 2SnR2 and SnR3 (where R = Me, Bu and Ph) have been synthesized by the reactions of the corresponding di- and triorganotin(IV) chlorides with potassium salt of o-hydroxyacetophenone glycine in 1:2 and 1:1 molar ratios respectively in refluxing benzene.However, diorganotin(IV) dichlorides and potassium salt of the ligand on refluxing in 1:1 molar ratio in benzene in the presence of triethylamine yielded the corresponding five coordinate diorganotin(IV) derivatives of the formulae SnR2 (where R = Me and Bu).These derivatives have been characterized by elemental analyses, m. pt. determinations and IR and NMR spectral studies.
