An investigation of the reactions of three boron-substituted carbenes with alkenes and alkanes uncovers substantial triplet reactivity. The triplet reveals itself not through addition or insertion reactions, but by abstraction to give a radical that abstracts again to give, ultimately, methyl-o-carboranes.
