The reaction of polyfluorocycloalkenes with the lithium derivatives of acetaldehyde imine gives conjugated syatems in the form of heptatrienedial derivatives with polyfluorinated rings in the polymethine chain.In the tetracarbocyanines obtained from them the steric hindrances caused by the fluorinated cyclic groups are smaller than in the corresponding dicarbocyanines.
