The reaction of bis [bis(trimethylsilyl)methyl]-germylene (1) with N-(azidosilyl)germanimines 3a,b at room temperature gave bis(germanimines) 4a,b in quantitative yield whose structures have been confirmed by single-crystal X-ray diffraction. The photolysis of 4a gave the cyclic silanimine 6 as an unexpected product.
