A series of 5,6-substituted norbornenes and 5,6-substituted polychlorinated norbornenes was prepared by using a microwave-assisted Diels-Alder reaction. The activation volume data in the reaction HCCP-styrene and HCCP-α-methylstyrene are consistent only with a transition state structurally similar with the final state.However both bonds are probably non equivalent in the transition state.
