Fused heterocycles: Synthesis and antifungal activities of 3,10-diaryl-2-thiothiazolopyridopyrimidines and 3,6,9-triaryl-2-thiothiazolothiadiazolopyrimidines

A number of 3,10-diaryl-2-thiothiazolopyridopyrimidines (5) and 3,6,9-triaryl-2-thiothiazolo-thiadiazolopyrimidines (6) have been synthesised from the Michael adducts (3) and (4), respectively which in turn have been prepared by the reaction of arylidenorhodanines (2) with 2-aminopyridine and 2-amino-5-aryl-1,3,4-thiadiazoles, respectively.The antifungal activity of the title compounds has been screened against A. niger, H. oryzae and P. oryzae.
