Visible light irradiation of 2,5-cyclohexadienones 1a and 1b in the solid state resulted in quantitative transformation into two isomeric lumiketones.The reaction was more efficient for bulky 1a (Φ = 0.46) than for less bulky 1b (Φ = 0.28).
