Nonsymmetric metal-free phthalocyanines, as well as copper and monolutecium complexes with D2h symmetry of the ligand that contain two tetraphenylisoindolyl and tert-butylbenzisoindolyl fragments are prepared upon the interaction of two different dinitriles, one of which provides sterichindrance for a template synthesis of a macrocycle. Molecular asymmetryis shown to affect electronic absorption and EPR spectra of the compounds synthesized.
