The reaction of diphenylphosphinoylacetic hydrazide with Fe(III) chloride proceeds via its oxidation to 1,2-bis(diphenylphosphinoylacetyl)hydrazine followed by formation of complexes of the general formula 2*Fe(OH)nCl3-n.The above-mentioned complexes decompose in acidic (pH 1 -2 and alkaline (pH 8 - 10) media at room temperature, and also in a neutral medium at 100 deg C.The complex formation studied is of importance for developing a production process for the initial hydrazide, a raw material for manufacture of the drug fosfabenzid.
