Synthetic and spectral studies of oxovanadium (IV) complexes with pyrazolines & isoxazolines

, p. 136 - 140 (2007/10/03)
A few oxovanadium (IV) complexes of the type VOL2 [LH = 3-(2-hydroxy-1-naphthyl)-5-(4-X-phenyl)-2-isoxazoline; X = H, Cl, OMe] have been prepared and characterized. IR spectral studies indicate coordination of the ligand through phenolic oxygen and tertiary nitrogen to the metal. Electronic spectral and magnetic susceptibility studies indicate the presence of a single unpaired electron while EPR studies confirm that the unpaired electron is present in the dxy orbital. EPR spectra recorded in pyridine show that the V=O bond is weakened leading to stronger in-plane bonds due to axial coordination of pyridine trans to the vanadyl oxygen.
Synthesis and spectral studies of cobalt(II), nickel(II) and copper(II) complexes of some bidentate isoxazolines
Athappan, P. R.,Shanthi, P.,Natarajan, C.
, p. 648 - 651 (2007/10/03)
Metal complexes of the type ML2*nB M=Co(II), Ni(II) and Cu(II); HL=3-(2-hydroxy-1-naphthyl)-5-(4-X-phenyl)-2-isoxazoline (X=H, Cl, OMe); n=0,2; B=H2O, py) have been synthesised and characterized on the basis of analytical data, conductivity, IR, electronic and EPR data and magnetic moment. The IR spectral data indicate bonding through the tertiary nitrogen of the isoxazoline ring and phenolic oxygen.
