Check Digit Verification of cas no

The CAS Registry Mumber 17324-09-3 includes 8 digits separated into 3 groups by hyphens. The first part of the number, starting from the left, has 5 digits, 1,7,3,2 and 4 respectively; the second part has 2 digits, 0 and 9 respectively.
Calculate Digit Verification of CAS Registry Number 17324-09:
(7*1)+(6*7)+(5*3)+(4*2)+(3*4)+(2*0)+(1*9)=93
93 % 10 = 3
So 17324-09-3 is a valid CAS Registry Number.

Excited-State Proton Transfer from Hydroxyalkylnaphthols

Tolbert, Laren M.,Harvey, Lilia Cuesta,Lum, Rachel C.

, p. 13335 - 13340 (1993)

The excited-state proton-transfer (ESPT) reactions of 1-propyl-2-naphthol (PN), 1-(3-hydroxypropyl)-2-naphthol (HPN), and 1-(2,3-dihydroxypropyl)-2-naphthol (DPN) in aqueous methanol solutions have been investigated. The hydroxypropyl and dihydroxypropyl side chains have a pronounced effect on the rate of the proton transfer and on the number of water molecules involved, indicating that proton transfer in alcoholic solvents is more complex than simple models of water clusters can accommodate.Altarnative models in which a side chain facilitates the formation of the requisite geometry for proton transfer are discussed.
