1,ω-Bis[8-(dimethylamino)-1-naphthyl]-1,ω-difluorotrisilane 1 (ω=3) and tetrasilane 2 (ω=4) have been prepared. The X-ray crystallography of dl-1 and meso-1 shows unsymmetrical structures having different coordination modes at the two terminal silicons. T

The syntheses of the trisilanes (X3Si)2SiMe2, X=H, F, Cl, Br, I, OMe, starting from (Ph3Si)2SiME2 are described.The reaction of 1,1,1,3,3,-hexaphenyl-2,2-dimethyltrisilane with triflic acid, followed by a treatment with LiF or reduction with LiAlH4, leads to the trisilanes (HPh2Si)2SiMe2, (H2PhSi)2SiMe2, HPh2SiSiMe2SiH2Ph, (FPh2Si)2SiMe2, (F2PhSi)2SiMe2 and FPh2SiSiMe2SiF2Ph.All compounds were characterized with 29Si-NMR and Infrared spectroscopy as well as elemental analyses.
