Description
8-iso Prostaglandin F2β (8-iso PGF2β) is an isomer of PGF2α that originates from a non-enzymatic, non-cyclooxygenase process. It is one of the 64 possible isomers of PGF2α, which can be generated through the free radical peroxidation of arachidonic acid. 8-iso PGF2β has a weak effect on the contraction of human umbilical vein artery and does not promote aggregation in human whole blood. However, it does moderately contract the canine and porcine pulmonary vein, although its effect is less significant compared to other isoprostanes like 8-iso PGE1, 8-iso PGE2, or 8-iso PGF2α.
Uses
Used in Pharmaceutical Industry:
8-iso Prostaglandin F2β is used as a research compound for understanding the role of isoprostanes in various physiological and pathological processes. Its weak effects on blood vessel contraction and blood aggregation make it a valuable tool for studying the mechanisms behind these actions and their implications in human health and disease.
Used in Medical Research:
8-iso PGF2β is utilized as a biomarker in medical research, particularly in the study of oxidative stress and inflammation. Its presence in biological samples can indicate the level of oxidative stress in the body, which is associated with various diseases and conditions, such as atherosclerosis, Alzheimer's disease, and other inflammatory disorders.
Used in Diagnostic Applications:
8-iso Prostaglandin F2β can be employed as a diagnostic marker to assess the severity of certain conditions and monitor the effectiveness of treatments. Its measurement in blood or other biological samples can provide insights into the underlying pathophysiology and help guide therapeutic interventions.
Check Digit Verification of cas no
The CAS Registry Mumber 177020-26-7 includes 9 digits separated into 3 groups by hyphens. The first part of the number, starting from the left, has 6 digits, 1,7,7,0,2 and 0 respectively; the second part has 2 digits, 2 and 6 respectively.
Calculate Digit Verification of CAS Registry Number 177020-26:
(8*1)+(7*7)+(6*7)+(5*0)+(4*2)+(3*0)+(2*2)+(1*6)=117
117 % 10 = 7
So 177020-26-7 is a valid CAS Registry Number.
