(+/-)-1-(2-chlorophenyl)ethyl acetate is an organic compound with the molecular formula C10H11ClO2. It is a chiral molecule, meaning it has two enantiomeric forms, (+) and (-), which are mirror images of each other. (+/-)-1-(2-chlorophenyl)ethyl acetate is a derivative of ethyl acetate, where one of the hydrogen atoms on the ethyl group is replaced by a 2-chlorophenyl group. The 2-chlorophenyl group consists of a benzene ring with a chlorine atom attached at the 2nd position. This chemical is used as an intermediate in the synthesis of various pharmaceuticals and agrochemicals, particularly in the production of certain pesticides and drugs. Its properties include a low melting point and boiling point, as well as a fruity odor. Due to its potential applications in the chemical industry, (+/-)-1-(2-chlorophenyl)ethyl acetate is an important compound for further research and development.

Check Digit Verification of cas no

The CAS Registry Mumber 1796-62-9 includes 7 digits separated into 3 groups by hyphens. The first part of the number, starting from the left, has 4 digits, 1,7,9 and 6 respectively; the second part has 2 digits, 6 and 2 respectively.
Calculate Digit Verification of CAS Registry Number 1796-62:
(6*1)+(5*7)+(4*9)+(3*6)+(2*6)+(1*2)=109
109 % 10 = 9
So 1796-62-9 is a valid CAS Registry Number.

Immobilized Manihot esculenta preparation as a novel biocatalyst in the enantioselective acetylation of racemic alcohols

Machado, Luciana L.,Lemos, Telma L.G.,de Mattos, Marcos Carlos,de Oliveira, Maria da Conceicao F.,de Gonzalo, Gonzalo,Gotor-Fernandez, Vicente,Gotor, Vicente

, p. 1418 - 1423 (2008)

The enzymatic preparation obtained from a discard of Manihot esculenta roots has been successfully immobilized on calcium alginate hydrogels. This preparation has been tested as a chiral biocatalyst in the enzymatic acylation of a set of racemic aromatic alcohols. Depending on the reaction conditions, excellent enantioselectivities can be achieved. Some parameters that can alter the biocatalytic properties of the enzyme, such as solvent, temperature, acyl donor and substrate structure have been studied exhaustively in order to establish a deeper knowledge of this novel biocatalyst.
