An efficient base-catalyzed synthesis of dihydropyrimidines and N-acetyl pyrazoles is reported using 1-(2-aminoethyl)piperazine-modified nano-NaY zeolite (ZeSi–AP) under mild and green conditions. The structure of the catalyst was identified by using FT-IR, XRD, TGA, DTA, DLS, SEM, TEM, and elemental analyses. This heterogeneous catalyst has many benefits, such as a simple work-up procedure, high product yield, and it is easily regenerated and reused at least for four cycles without losing its activity.

Biginelli reaction entails acid-catalyzed one-pot synthesis of 3,4-dihydropyrimidin-2(1H)-ones (DHPMs) with simply-accessible initial substances, specifically, aldehyde, urea, and active methylene compound. DHPMs have stimulated a resurgence of attention in the previous two decades because of their broad-ranging pharmacological actions and the existence of varied all-natural products. Currently, green methods to asymmetric Biginelli reaction have been researched for anti-inflammatory DHPMs. In materials chemistry, DHPMs are increasingly decision applications in the creation of materials like polymers, adhesives, fabric dyes, etc. In light of the simplicity by which the Biginelli reaction is conducted, numerous interesting prospects expect its exploitation in variety fields. CoFe2O4?SiO2-NH2-CoII is herein turned out to be an effective catalyst at a three-component Biginelli reaction. The yield of the corresponding DHPMs was rather large (20 cases; average 92 percent). Finally, we herein suggest a procedure that shows lots of advantages and benefits such as the whole lack of solvents, mild reaction conditions, comparatively short reaction times. Also, CoFe2O4?SiO2-NH2-CoII NPs catalyst has been readily recovered from the reaction combination and reused, without the decrease of catalytic action.

A simple, efficient, cost-effective, recyclable and green approach has been developed for the synthesis of new dihydropyrimidinone analogs via the Biginelli reaction. The methodology involves a multicomponent reaction catalyzed by "HPA-Montmorillonite-KSF"as a reusable and heterogeneous catalyst. This method gives an efficient and much improved modification of the original Biginelli reaction, in terms of yield and short reaction times under solvent free conditions. All the derivatives were subjected to cytotoxicity screening against a panel of four different human cancer cell lines viz. colon (Colo-205), prostate (PC-3), leukemia (THP-1) and lung (A549) to check their effect on percentage growth. MTT [3-(4,5-dimethylthiazol-yl)-diphenyl tetrazoliumbromide] cytotoxicity assay was employed to check IC50 values. Of the synthesized analogs, 16a showed the best activity with IC50 of 7.1 ± 0.8, 13.1 ± 1.4, 13.8 ± 0.9 and 14.7 ± 1.1 μM against lung (A549), leukemia (THP-1), prostate (PC-3) and colon (Colo-205) cancer lines, respectively. The 16a analog was further checked for its effect on cancer cell properties through clonogenic (colony formation) and scratch motility (wound healing) assays and thereby was found that it reduced both the colony formation and migratory properties of the lung cancer cell line (A549). Further, molecular docking studies were performed with 16a to show its binding mode. This journal is

Preparation of choline sulfate ionic liquid supported on porous graphitic carbon nitride nanosheets by simple surface modification for enhanced catalytic properties

Azizi, Najmedin,Edrisi, Mahtab

, (2019/12/23)

Supported ionic liquids (SILs) have attracted rising interest and the subject of active research in the last decades due to the diversified range of applications and yet reports on ILs is still rapidly increasing. This work reports a choline sulfate ionic liquid supported on fascinating and highly stable porous graphitic carbon nitride (g-C3N4) nanosheets as an inexpensive and an environmentally friendly reusable ionic catalyst in organic synthesis typically requiring a harmful organic solvent and highly toxic acids. g-C3N4?SO3Ch was prepared by mixing sulfonic acid functionalized graphitic carbon nitride nanosheets (g-C3N4?SO3H) with choline hydroxide or via a novel approach. The introduction of a choline sulfate could significantly enlarge specific surface areas with rich reaction sites and suppressed the recombination of sheets. This work provides a new way to improve the chemical property of g-C3N4 along with the recyclability of the ionic liquid. g-C3N4?SO3Ch (IL/g-C3N4) offers an effective, reusable, inexpensive, environmentally friendly and low-cost catalyst for the synthesis of 3,4-dihydropyrimidin-2 (1H)-ones, 2,3-dihydroquinazolin-4 (1H)-ones and bisindolylmethanes in good to excellent yields. The prepared catalyst synthesized compounds were well characterized by different techniques such as FT-IR, XRD, SEM, EDX and TGA.

Topology-Controlled Selective Fe3+ Binding in Water by -Peptides with a Dihydropyrimidinone-Containing Amino Acid

Ghorai, Pradip Kumar,Haldar, Debasish,Konar, Sukanya,Podder, Debasish,Sasmal, Supriya

, p. 1760 - 1770 (2020/03/17)

The effect of topology on the structure, self-assembly, and selective Fe3+ binding of -peptides has been investigated. A series of -peptides with an amino acid containing dihydropyrimidinone and o-, m-, and p-aminobenzoic acids have been designed to study the structure-function relationship. A new amino acid containing dihydropyrimidinone was synthesized by the Biginelli reaction of ethyl acetoacetate, urea, and o-nitrobenzaldehyde followed by reduction with iron powder and acetic acid. X-ray crystallography sheds some light on the conformations, self-assembly, and the diverse degrees of -πstacking of adjacent -peptide molecules. Peptides with o- or m-aminobenzoic acid form eight-membered intramolecular hydrogen-bonded turn conformations and self-assemble through intermolecular hydrogen bonds between dihydropyrimidinone units to form a butterfly-like structure. However, the -peptide containing p-aminobenzoic acid forms a water-mediated cage-like structure. Irrespective of the presence of the same functional groups, only the -peptide with o-aminobenzoic acid can selectively bind Fe3+ in methanol as well as in water. The topology plays a crucial role in the selective Fe3+ ion binding by the -peptide.

Synthesis of Fe3O4-DOPA-Cu Magnetically Separable Nanocatalyst: A Versatile and Robust Catalyst for an Array of Sustainable Multicomponent Reactions under Microwave Irradiation

Kumari, Mitlesh,Jain, Yachana,Yadav, Priya,Laddha, Harshita,Gupta, Ragini

, p. 2180 - 2194 (2019/05/07)

Abstract: Herein, we are reporting a facile route to synthesize magnetically separable copper loaded L-DOPA functionalized magnetite nanoparticles (Fe3O4-DOPA-CuNPs), which are well characterized by FT-IR, PXRD, SEM, EDAX, HRTEM, XPS, TGA and VSM techniques. This single catalyst exhibits excellent catalytic activity towards (i) synthesis of DHPMs via Biginelli reaction (ii) synthesis of imidazoles (iii) synthesis of 2-amino-4H-chromenes (iv) 1,2,3-triazole derivatives by ‘Click reaction’ under microwave irradiation (MWI). Interestingly it can be easily recovered and reused for subsequent cycles for above mentioned four important multicomponent reactions without any significant decrease in its catalytic activity.
