In this research, it was displayed an efficient method for the one-pot reaction of cyclohexanone, benzaldehyde and malononitrile for the synthesis of 4H-chromenes by using CoFe2O4/lamellar mesopore silica anchored to melamine as a magnetic nanocatalyst. This nanocatalyst was prepared in several steps and discriminated by XRD, FT-IR, SEM, VSM, TGA and BET techniques. The catalyst has a large active base site that has functionalized in both the surface and the pore of nanostructure. The advantages of magnetic nanocatalyst were simple accessible, heterogeneous nanocatalyst, easy work up and reusability. The various derivatives of 4H-chromenes were synthesized in the presence of CoFe2O4/lamellar mesopore silica/melamine magnetic nanocatalyst with the excellent yields and appropriate times. The products were identified by the melting point, FT-IR, 1H NMR, 13C NMR and C.H.N techniques.

Metal-organic framework [Fe(BTC) (BTC = 1,3,5-benzenetricarboxylic acid)] is a convenient heterogeneous catalyst for the carbon-carbon bond forming reaction in toluene between acetophenone and benzaldehyde to give selectively chalcone in high yield. Fe(BTC) appears as a general catalyst able to synthesize selectively different chalcone derivatives bearing various functionalities. Fe(BTC) could be recycled with no significant loss of catalytic efficiency and crystallinity in subsequent runs.

Disclosed is a simple method for efficiently and selectively producing a 2-benzylphenol compound. Specifically disclosed is a method for producing a 2-benzylphenol compound represented by the following general formula (2): (wherein R1, R2, R3, R4, R5, R6, R7, R8 and R9 represent the same as defined in the general formula (1) below) which is characterized by reacting a benzylidenecyclohexane compound represented by the following general formula (1): (wherein R1, R2, R3 and R4 may be the same or different and respectively represent a hydrogen atom, an alkyl group or the like; and R5, R6, R7, R8 and R9 may be the same or different and respectively represent a hydrogen atom, an alkyl group or the like) in the presence of a dehydrogenation agent. Consequently, a 2-benzylphenol compound substantially containing no isomers can be produced selectively and efficiently under mild conditions by a simple procedure using an easily-available benzylidenecyclohexane compound as the raw material without requiring a special reaction equipment.
