Vinyldi(ethoxy)chlorosilane, also known as VDC, is a colorless liquid organosilicon compound with the chemical formula C6H13ClO2Si. It is a reactive silane that contains a vinyl group, two ethoxy groups, and one chlorosilane group. VDC is widely used in the production of various silicone-based materials, such as sealants, adhesives, and elastomers, due to its ability to form stable covalent bonds with both organic and inorganic substrates. It is also employed as a coupling agent in the synthesis of composite materials, enhancing the adhesion between organic polymers and inorganic fillers. The compound is typically synthesized through the reaction of vinylmagnesium bromide with dichlorodimethylsilane, followed by the addition of ethylene oxide. VDC is sensitive to moisture and must be stored and handled under anhydrous conditions to prevent hydrolysis.

Check Digit Verification of cas no

The CAS Registry Mumber 18187-22-9 includes 8 digits separated into 3 groups by hyphens. The first part of the number, starting from the left, has 5 digits, 1,8,1,8 and 7 respectively; the second part has 2 digits, 2 and 2 respectively.
Calculate Digit Verification of CAS Registry Number 18187-22:
(7*1)+(6*8)+(5*1)+(4*8)+(3*7)+(2*2)+(1*2)=119
119 % 10 = 9
So 18187-22-9 is a valid CAS Registry Number.

Effect of substituents on the silicon atom on etherification of organochlorosilanes with ethanol

Chernyshev,Belyakova,Komarov,Bykovchenko

, p. 1038 - 1040 (2007/10/03)

The kinetics of etherification of organochlorosilanes with various substituents on the silicon atom with ethanol were studied. The etherification rate is mostly controlled by the inductive constants of the substituents and increases as the electron-acceptor power of the substituents increases. The ρ* value in the Taft equation for etherification of organochlorosilanes with ethanol was determined.

Reaction of Tetraalkoxysilanes with Alkyl(aryl)chlorosilanes

Chernyshev, E. A.,Komalenkova, N. G.,Tagachenkov, A. A.,Bykovchenko, V. G.

, p. 241 - 243 (2007/10/03)

Alkyl(aryl)trichloro- or dialkyl(diaryl)dichlorosilanes react with tetraalkoxysilanes Si(OMe)4, Si(OEt)4, and Si(OBu)4 to give partially etherfied alkyl(aryl)chlorosilanes RSiCl2(OAlk), RSiCl(OAlk)2, and R2SiCl(OAlk).
