Bis(macrocyclic) binuclear metal complexes of the type [M2LCl4] [where M=Fe(II), Co(II), Ni(II), Cu(II) and Zn(II); L = L1 - L6] have been synthesised by the template condensation reaction of ethylenediamine or 1, 3-diaminopropane, with formaldehyde, benzidine and acetylacetone or dibenzoylmethane or phthalaldehyde in 4:4:1:2 molar ratio. All these complexes have been characterized by elemental analysis, IR, 1H NMR, EPR and UV/VIS and conductivity data as well as magnetic susceptibility measurements. An octahedral geometry is suggested for all the complexes.
