Lewis acid-catalyzed [6+1] annulation reactions of 2-cyano-1-propargyl- and 2-alkynyl-1-cyanomethyl-indoles with Reformatsky reagent are described. 8-Aryl, 8-alkyl-, 8-hetaryl-, 9-aryl, and 9-alkyl-azepino[1,2-a]indole amines were obtained through a 7-endo-mode cyclization of the β-aminoacrylate intermediates. The antiproliferative activity of the azepino[1,2-a]indoles analogs against the HCT-116 cells were also examined.

An original and regioselective method for the meta functionalisation of fluoro- and ethylbenze is reported. This process involves a 2,5-disilylation of these subtrates using trimethylchlorosilane in the presence of lithium in THF as the solvent. After aromatisation, monodesilylation in position 2- and electrophilic substitution of the trimethylsilyl group in position 5-, meta acetyl-, senecioyl-, benzoyl-, and iodofluorobenzenes and ethylbenzenes as well as the sodium salts of metafluoro or meta ethylbenzenesulfonic acid and 3-aminosulfonylfluorobenzene were obtained in good yields. pair of diastereomeric triamines 15 and 16.A tricyclic diazasystem 19 was formed from the reaction of cyanide with the carbamoylated chloroenamine 18.Monochloroenamine 10a and dichloroenamine 12a showed a significant mutagenic behaviour in the Ames test.

A single conformation exists in ethylbenzenes with the ethyl C-C bond lying in a plane orthogonal to the benzene ring. This conclusion results from the observation that asymmetrically substituted ethylbenzenes each display only a single band series in low-resolution microwave (LRMW) spectra whereas any other conformation of the ethylphenyl fragment would result in two spectroscopically distinguishable species.LRMW spectra of isopropylbenzene derivatives display three spectroscopically distinguishable band series, two of which correspond to the conformation with the methine C-H bond eclipsed with the benzene ring and syn or anti with respect to an unsymmetrical phenyl substituent. The third series is much more intense, has a B + C value which is the average of the syn and anti forms, and is consistent with the superposition of spectra of torsionally excited species.
