Tris(tribromoneopenthyl)phosphate (TBNPA) is a brominated flame retardant with the chemical formula C15H24Br9O4P. It is a compound that is widely recognized for its flame-resistant properties, making it a valuable component in the production of plastics and textiles. TBNPA is known for its high efficiency in fire protection, which significantly enhances the safety of consumer products. However, the potential release of this substance into the environment during the product life cycle raises concerns about its impact on public health, with some studies suggesting a possible link to neurodevelopmental disorders in humans.

Uses

Used in Plastic Industry:
Tris(tribromoneopenthyl)phosphate is used as a flame retardant for plastics to enhance their fire resistance. This application is crucial in industries where materials are exposed to high temperatures or in environments where fire safety is a priority, such as in the construction and electronics sectors.
Used in Textile Industry:
Tris(tribromoneopenthyl)phosphate is used as a flame retardant for textiles to improve the fire safety of fabrics. This is particularly important in the production of upholstery, carpets, and other home furnishings, as well as in the creation of protective clothing for firefighters and other emergency personnel.
However, it is important to note that while TBNPA provides significant benefits in terms of fire protection, its potential environmental and health impacts must be carefully considered. The release of brominated flame retardants into the environment may contribute to pollution and could potentially be associated with neurodevelopmental disorders in humans, highlighting the need for ongoing research and the development of safer alternatives.

Check Digit Verification of cas no

The CAS Registry Mumber 19186-97-1 includes 8 digits separated into 3 groups by hyphens. The first part of the number, starting from the left, has 5 digits, 1,9,1,8 and 6 respectively; the second part has 2 digits, 9 and 7 respectively.
Calculate Digit Verification of CAS Registry Number 19186-97:
(7*1)+(6*9)+(5*1)+(4*8)+(3*6)+(2*9)+(1*7)=141
141 % 10 = 1
So 19186-97-1 is a valid CAS Registry Number.

One-pot synthesis process of tri (tribromoneopentyl) phosphate flame retardant

-

Paragraph 0022-0047, (2021/05/12)

The invention discloses a one-pot synthesis process of a tri (tribromoneopentyl) phosphate flame retardant, and belongs to the technical field of tri (tribromoneopentyl) phosphate flame retardant production. The one-pot synthesis process comprises the steps that firstly, pentaerythritol, bromine and urea serve as raw materials to react to obtain tribromoneopentyl acetate, and then phosphorus oxychloride, a catalyst and an acid-binding agent are added into the tribromoneopentyl acetate to synthesize the tri (tribromoneopentyl) phosphate, so that the tri (tribromoneopentyl) phosphate does not need to be synthesized by taking tribromoneopentyl alcohol as a raw material after tribromoneopentyl alcohol is independently synthesized, so that the 'one-pot' synthesis of the tri (tribromoneopentyl) phosphate can be realized, the process is simplified, the production efficiency of the tris (tribromoneopentyl) phosphate is improved, and the large-scale industrial production of the tris (tribromoneopentyl) phosphate is facilitated. By reasonably controlling the raw materials, the reaction time, the temperature and other process parameters, the reaction time is shortened, and the yield and the purity of the product are improved.

Process for preparing halogenated trialkyl phosphate esters

-

, (2008/06/13)

A method of producing a halogenated trialkyl phosphate ester which comprises admixing a halogenated hydroxy compound containing a halogen selected from the group consisting of bromine, chlorine, iodine and mixtures thereof, a phosphorus oxyhalide containing a halogen selected from the group consisting of bromine, chlorine, iodine and mixtures thereof, a solvent suitable to dissolve the halogenated hydroxy compound and the phosphorus oxyhalide, said solvent being substantially inert to hydrogen halide, and a catalyst suitable to increase the polarity of the phosphorus oxyhalide, refluxing said admixture sufficiently to form a trialkyl phosphate ester precipitate, and recovering this precipitate.
