PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a metal complex having high gas adsorbing and desorbing capability which can be an adsorbing-desorbing agent, a separation agent or a hydrogen storage material. SOLUTION: There is provided a fluorine-containing cobalt complex represented by the formula (1). (R represents one or more selected from the group consisting of H, a halogen atom, a nitro group, an amino group, a hydroxy group, a cyano group, an alkyl group having 1 to 4 carbon atoms, a haloalkyl group having 1 to 4 carbon atoms, an alkyloxy group having 1 to 4 carbon atoms, a haloalkyloxy group having 1 to 4 carbon atoms and a vinyl group; DA represents a diamine having two nitrogen atoms having an unshared electron pair; SOL represents at least one selected from the group consisting of water, a sulfoxide compound, a sulfone compound, an amide compound, a nitrile compound and alcohol; x represents a value of 0 to 1; y represents a value of 0 to 4; n represents an integer of 1 to 3; and m represents an integer of 0 to 4.)
