The synthesis and characterization of two new hexa-azole macrocyclic ligands, MEPY22PZ and ETPY24PZ, are described. The single crystal structure of ETPY24PZ shows two metal-binding sites with a tripodal N4 geometry. Coordination of 2 Cu(I) or 2 Zn(II) ions by each macrocycle was confirmed by NMR complexation studies.
