5,7-Dimethylimidazo[1,2-a]pyrimidine is used as a mutagen in laboratory research for inducing mutations in bacteria and other microorganisms. This application aids scientists in studying genetic mutations, mechanisms of mutagenesis, and the effects of such mutations on cellular processes.
Used in Food Industry Monitoring:
Although 5,7-dimethylimidazo[1,2-a]pyrimidine is considered a potential carcinogen, its presence in certain food products, particularly those cooked at high temperatures, necessitates monitoring and control measures. It is used as a reference compound for assessing the safety of food products and implementing guidelines to minimize human exposure to this mutagenic chemical.
Used in Toxicology and Carcinogenesis Studies:
Due to its mutagenic and potential carcinogenic properties, 5,7-dimethylimidazo[1,2-a]pyrimidine serves as a valuable tool in toxicology and carcinogenesis research. It is utilized to investigate the mechanisms of carcinogenesis, evaluate the carcinogenic potential of other chemicals, and develop strategies for cancer prevention and treatment.
Used in Environmental and Occupational Health:
The presence of 5,7-dimethylimidazo[1,2-a]pyrimidine in certain environments and occupational settings, such as those involving high-temperature processes, highlights its importance in environmental and occupational health studies. It is used to assess potential health risks, develop safety guidelines, and implement measures to minimize exposure to this chemical.
Used in Regulatory Compliance and Quality Control:
Given its potential health risks, 5,7-dimethylimidazo[1,2-a]pyrimidine is a critical parameter in regulatory compliance and quality control processes. It is used to ensure that food products and other materials meet safety standards, and to monitor and control the presence of this mutagenic chemical in various industries.
Check Digit Verification of cas no
The CAS Registry Mumber 1990-93-8 includes 7 digits separated into 3 groups by hyphens. The first part of the number, starting from the left, has 4 digits, 1,9,9 and 0 respectively; the second part has 2 digits, 9 and 3 respectively.
Calculate Digit Verification of CAS Registry Number 1990-93:
(6*1)+(5*9)+(4*9)+(3*0)+(2*9)+(1*3)=108
108 % 10 = 8
So 1990-93-8 is a valid CAS Registry Number.

Synthesis and antibacterial activity of some imidazo[1,2-a[pyrimidine derivatives
Rival,Grassy,Michel
, p. 1170 - 1176 (2007/10/02)
A series of 75 imidazo[1,2-a]pyrimidine derivatives were synthesized. The 'in vitro' antibacterial activity of these compounds and their corresponding α-bromoketones against a variety of gram (+), gram (-) bacteria and Mycobacterium species is reported. Some of the prepared derivatives exhibited potent antimicrobial activity.
