2,2,5-trimethyl-4-phenyl-2H-imidazole 1-oxide, also known as TMTD, is an organic compound with the chemical formula C13H16N2O. It is a derivative of imidazole, featuring a phenyl group at the 4-position and three methyl groups at the 2, 2, and 5 positions. TMTD is a white crystalline solid that is soluble in organic solvents and has a melting point of approximately 90°C. 2,2,5-trimethyl-4-phenyl-2H-imidazole 1-oxide is primarily used as a rubber accelerator, enhancing the vulcanization process in rubber manufacturing. It is known for its ability to provide good aging properties and resistance to heat, oxygen, and flex cracking in rubber products. TMTD is also used in the production of certain types of adhesives and as a chemical intermediate in the synthesis of other compounds. Due to its reactivity and potential health and environmental concerns, it is important to handle TMTD with proper safety measures.

Check Digit Verification of cas no

The CAS Registry Mumber 20033-79-8 includes 8 digits separated into 3 groups by hyphens. The first part of the number, starting from the left, has 5 digits, 2,0,0,3 and 3 respectively; the second part has 2 digits, 7 and 9 respectively.
Calculate Digit Verification of CAS Registry Number 20033-79:
(7*2)+(6*0)+(5*0)+(4*3)+(3*3)+(2*7)+(1*9)=58
58 % 10 = 8
So 20033-79-8 is a valid CAS Registry Number.

Nitroxyl radicals of the imidazoline series as agents of pseudoliving polymerization of styrene

Kolyakina,Lazarev,Pavlovskaya,Kirilyuk,Zhurko,Grigorev,Grishin

, p. 1556 - 1564 (2010)

Radical polymerization of styrene in the presence of 2,2,4,5,5-pentamethyl- 2,5-dihydro- Imidazol-1-oxyl, 2,2-diethyl-4,5,5-trimethyl-2,5-dihydroimidazol-1- oxyl, 2,2,5,5-tetramethyl- 4-phenyl-2,5-dihydroimidazol-1-oxyl, 2,2,5-trimethyl-4,5-diphenyl-2,5-dihydroimidazol- 1-oxyl, and 2-methyl-2,3-diphenyl-1,4-diazaspiro[4.5]deca-3-en-1-oxyl was studied. Effect of substituents in the nitroxyl radical and the nature of initiator on the features of "pseudoliving" polymerization and the molecular-weight characteristics of polystyrene synthesized were considered. Nitroxyl radicals of imidazoline series, like TEMPO and its derivatives, allow one to regulate polymerization of styrene and obtain polymers with relatively low values of polydispersity index.
