Synthesis and structure of binuclear complexes of palladium and platinum containing bridging diphenylphosphinate ligand

Treatment of [M2Cl2(μ-Cl)2(PR3)2] (M/PR3=Pt/PEt3, Pt/PBu3, Pt/PMe2Ph, Pt/PMePh2, Pd/PMe2Ph) with AgO2PPh2 at room temperature, gave diphenylphosphinato-bridged binuclear complexes [M2Q2(μ-O2PPh2) 2(PR3)2]. These complexes were characterized by NMR spectroscopy and elemental analysis. Crystal and molecular structure of [Pt2Cl2(μ-O2PPh2) 2(PMe2Ph)2] has been determined by single crystal X-ray diffraction. The eight-membered metallocyclic ring Pt2(O2P)2 has a boat conformation with Pt...Pt separation of 3.2212(6) A.
