Treatment of [M₂Cl₂(μ-Cl)₂(PR₃)₂] (M/PR₃=Pt/PEt₃, Pt/PBu₃, Pt/PMe₂Ph, Pt/PMePh₂, Pd/PMe₂Ph) with AgO₂PPh₂ at room temperature, gave diphenylphosphinato-bridged binuclear complexes [M₂Q₂(μ-O₂PPh₂) ₂(PR₃)₂]. These complexes were characterized by NMR spectroscopy and elemental analysis. Crystal and molecular structure of [Pt₂Cl₂(μ-O₂PPh₂) ₂(PMe₂Ph)₂] has been determined by single crystal X-ray diffraction. The eight-membered metallocyclic ring Pt₂(O₂P)₂ has a boat conformation with Pt...Pt separation of 3.2212(6) A.
