The rearrangement of various meta-substituted p-cyclohexyl aryl ketones has been investigated with the objective to develop a convenient route for the synthesis of 2-fluoro-α-methyl [1,1′-biphenyl-4-acetic acid [(±) -flurbiprofen], a potent anti-inflammatory agent of current importance.
