Reactions of protic reagents with a tungsten phosphenium ion complex

The reactions of metallophosphenium ion complex CpW(CO)2{P(Ph)[N(SiMe3)2]} with protic reagents HBF4, HCl, and CF3COOH have been studied. The 1:1 reactions result in protonation of the W=P bond, while the 1:2 reactions display cleavage of the P-N bond. The molecular structure of one product, Cp(CO)2(Cl)WP(H)(Ph)[N(SiMe3)2], was determined by single crystal X-ray diffraction techniques: triclinic space group P1 with a=9.6732(14) A, b=11.3419(15) A, c=11.5930(14) A, α=87.724(11)°, β=77.647(11)°, γ=82.989(11)°, V=1233.0(3) A3, Z=2.
