The applicability and synthetic potency of the novel reagent 1-aryl-1,1-dicyano-3-phenylsulfonylpropene for the development of an expeditious synthetic approach to unique polyfunctionally substituted heterocyclic sulfone systems is reported. Chemical and spectroscopic evidences for the structures of the new compounds are presented.
