9-Chloro(dimethyl)silyl-, 9-dichloro(methyl)silyl-, and 9-trichlorosilyl-p-ment-l-enes were obtained by hydrosilylation of p-menta-1,8(9)-diene with HSiMe3-nCln (n = 1-3). The products were reacted with BrMgC≡CH to obtain the corresponding ethynyl derivatives. 9-(Bromomagnesioethynyl)dimethylsilyl-p-ment-1-ene reacts with MeCHO to give 9-(3-hydroxybutyn-l-yl)dimethylsilyl-p-ment-1-ene.
