The synthesis of functionalized 2,2-disubstituted 2H-1-benzopyrans was achieved by condensing 2,3,5-trimethylhydroquinone (TMHQ) with α,β- unsaturated aldehydes or α,β-unsaturated acetals under acidic conditions.
