Controlled iodination reaction of cis-M(CO)4L2 has been studied spectrophotometrically.The rate constants (kobs) and the activation energy (Ea) of the substitution-oxidation reaction: cis-M0(CO)4L2 + I2 MII(CO)3L2I2 + CO have been determined.Reciprocal relationship between these thermal reactivity parameters and CO stretching wavenumber (νCO) and Cotton-Kraihanzel force constants (CKFC) is observed.
