A series of novel polymers (P1-P6) derived from the combination of different units (including thiophene, triarylamine, and spirobifluorene) were successfully synthesized, completely characterized, and used as hole-transporting materials (HTMs) for perovskite solar cells (PSCs). Solar cells with some of these materials as HTMs showed very good performances of almost 13% (12.75% for P4 and 12.38% for P6) even without additives, and devices based on these new HTMs show relatively improved stability against temperature compared to those based on PTAA. The presence of dopant additives has been linked to long-term degradation, which is the main barrier to the large-scale commercialization of this innovative type of solar cell. Obtaining efficient PSCs without using dopants could represent a further step toward improvement of long-term stability and thus their introduction into the market.

The photosynthetic reaction center (RC) from the Rhodobacter sphaeroides bacterium has been covalently bioconjugated with a NIR-emitting fluorophore (AE800) whose synthesis was specifically tailored to act as artificial antenna harvesting light in the entire visible region. AE800 has a broad absorption spectrum with peaks centered in the absorption gaps of the RC and its emission overlaps the most intense RC absorption bands, ensuring a consistent increase of the protein optical cross section. The covalent hybrid AE800-RC is stable and fully functional. The energy collected by the artificial antenna is transferred to the protein via FRET mechanism, and the hybrid system outperforms by a noteworthy 30% the overall photochemical activity of the native protein under the entire range of visible light. This improvement in the optical characteristic of the photoenzyme demonstrates the effectiveness of the bioconjugation approach as a suitable route to new biohybrid materials for energy conversion, photocatalysis, and biosensing.

Abstract Organic light-emitting molecular glasses (OEMGs) are synthesized through the introduction of nonplanar donor and branched aliphatic chain into electroluminescent emitters. The target OEMGs are characterized by 1H NMR, 13C NMR, IR, UV-vis and fluorescent spectra as well as elemental analysis, TG and DSC. The results indicated that the optical, electrochemical and electroluminescent properties of OEMGs are adjusted successfully by the replacement of electron-donating group. The non-doped OLED device with a standard red electroluminescent emission is achieved by spin-coating the THF solution of OEMG with a triphenylamine moiety. This non-doped red OLED device takes on an electrically stable electroluminescent performance, including the stable maximum electroluminescent wavelength of 640 nm, the stable luminous efficiency of 2.4 cd/A and the stable CIE1931 coordinate of (x, y) = (0.64, 0.35), which is basically in accord with the CIE1931 coordinate (x, y) = (0.64, 0.33) of standard red light in PAL system.

Paragraph 0030; 0060; 0061, (2014/04/04)
An object of the present invention is to provide a novel concept coadsorbent that can be used instead of conventionally-used deoxycholic acid (DCA). The present invention provides a coadsorbent having hole conduction characteristics, including the compound represented by Formula 3, and provides a dye-sensitized solar cell including a light absorbing layer including the coadsorbent having hole conduction characteristics. The photocurrent and photovoltage of the dye-sensitized solar cell can be improved because it includes a light absorbing layer including the coadsorbent having hole conduction characteristics.
