Ylidenemalononitrile 1a,b readily coupled with diazonium salts to afford cycloalkano[c]pyridazinimine 3a-c. Compounds 3a,b reacted with sulfur element to give 5,5'-dithiobis(cycloalkanopyridazinone). 1,7-Propanothienopyridazine 4a,b were obtained by two methods. Compounds 4a,b undergoes cycloaddition reaction with electron poor olefins and acetylenedicarboxylate derivatives to afford 1,8-propanophthalazinones and 1,9-propanothiepinopyridazinones derivatives, respectively. Compounds 3a,b reacted with arylidenemalononitrile and enaminone derivative to afford 1,8-propanophthalazines.
