, p. 1540 - 1551 (2011)
We have developed the synthesis of twenty four new iminolactones, bis-iminolactones and bis-lactones by subsequent esterification-condensation or addition-condensation reactions according to two strategies from α-hydroxyketones. The X-ray diffraction data of a bis-iminolactone is described and present an interesting helical column packing.
Synthesis of novel bis(dihydropyridine) and terpyridine derivatives
Hebishy, Ali M.S.,Abdelhamid, Ismail A.,Elwahy, Ahmed H.M.
, p. 109 - 123 (2018)
A synthesis of novel bis(cyanopyridones) by the reaction of the appropriate bis(cyanoacetamide) with the corresponding arylidenmalononitrile in the presence of basic catalysts was reported. In some cases, the corresponding bis(2-cyano-3-arylacrylamide) derivatives were isolated from these reactions as single products. The multicomponent strategy for the synthesis of the target compounds was also investigated. The utility of bis(cyanoacetamides) as building blocks for novel bisquinolinones was also studied.

Paragraph 0067, (2018/05/24)
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a dye compound which is suitable for use as a dye or the like for an optical filter such as a color filter of a liquid crystal display, has high solubility in an organic compound, and has excellent heat resistance. SOLUTION: The dye compound is represented by general formula (1) (where A1a and A1b each independently represent a group represented by one of general formulae (1-1) to (1-3); R101a, R101b, R103a and R103b each independently represent a hydrogen atom or an optionally substituted alkyl group; R102a and R102b each independently represent an electron-withdrawing group; and L represents an optionally substituted arylene group).
