The structure of phenalene and of its hydrogenation products has been established by molecular statistics calculations (in the atom-atom approximation) and by experimental gas-chromatographic determination of Henry's constants for the adsorption equilibrium on graphitised thermal black at 200 - 300 deg C.By comparing the experimental and theoretical Henry's constants we show that a mixture of isomers of perhydrophenalene contains two isomers: cis-trans-cis and trans-trans-trans.Results closely similar to the experimental values for phenalene (perinaphthene) have been obtained in calculations for the proposed structure.
