Preparation of a β-dimethylphenylsilylethyl (BMPSE) ester linker from 2% divinylbenzene-styrene copolymer by lithiation, chlorodimethylvinylsilane silylation, hydroboration/oxidation (giving 9), and O-acylation is reported.
