The effects of electrophilic metal-amido complexes as catalysts for olefin polymerization were investigated. The structure of the monotetrahydrofuran adducts and the difference in C-F and C-H bonds with samarium was developed. The interactions between amido ligands with the metal center by the ortho-F atoms from two pentafluorophenyl groups were analyzed. The samarium metal center was coordinated by the three nitrogen atoms of the amido ligands in a highly distorted tetrahedral geometry.
