1,3-dihydroxy-2-naphthoic acid, also known as DHNA, is a chemical compound that belongs to the naphthoic acid family. It has a molecular formula of C11H8O4 and a molecular weight of 204.178 g/mol. DHNA is a derivative of naphthalene and contains two hydroxyl groups and a carboxylic acid group. It is a building block for the biosynthesis of menaquinone, a type of vitamin K found in bacteria. DHNA is also used in the production of pharmaceuticals and as a reagent in organic synthesis.
