The invention provides a class of axially chiral biimidazole compounds, synthesis and applications thereof. According to the synthesis, optically pure binaphthol is used as an initial raw material, a2,2'-dibromomethane-3,3'-diarylbinaphthalene compound is obtained through a series of reactions, and a nucleophilic substitution reaction is performed under an alkaline condition to obtain a class ofthe axially chiral biimidazole compound. According to the invention, the axially chiral biimidazole compound can be effectively synthesized, can be used as a chiral ligand and can be well applied to atransition metal palladium-catalyzed phenol oxygen hydrogen bond insertion reaction by a diazo compound.
