Reactions of o-quinones with α-methyl- (or methylene) substituted phosphorus ylides. Synthesis of benzo[b]furan derivatives
Gautam, Daman R.,Litinas, Konstantinos E.,Fylaktakidou, Konstantina C.,Nicolaides, Demetrios N.
, p. 399 - 404 (2003)
In Wittig reaction of some α-methyl- and α-methylene-substituted phosphorus ylides with o-quinones, benzo[b]furan derivatives were obtained via the cyclization of the o-vinylphenols, initially formed from the tautomerization of the corresponding intermediate o-quinone methides.
Reactions of α-Alkyl- or α-Halogeno-alkoxycarbonylmethylene(triphenyl)phosphoranes with Phenanthrene-9,10-quinone. Synthesis of Phenanthrofuran Derivatives

, p. 2107 - 2112 (2007/10/02)
Reactions of the α-methyl substituted title ylides 2a, 2b with quinone 1 give the unexpected spiro-diastereoisomers 7 and 8 and the acrylates 9.Reactions of the α-ethyl and α-benzyl substituted ylides 2c and 2d with 1 afford compounds 4, 11 and 13, 14 respectively.Reaction between 1 and the α-halogeno substituted ylides 2e, 2f leads to formation of the diesters 16a and 16b respectively. All the fused furan derivatives obtained are formed via an initial Wittig monoolefination of 1 with the ylide used.
Influence of Wavelength on the Photochemistry of Triarylbenzofurodioxin Derivatives
Horspool, William M.,Khalaf, Abedawn I.
, p. 1147 - 1152 (2007/10/02)
The u.v. irradiation of a number of triarylfurobenzodioxins has been carried out at both λ >280 nm and at 254 nm.The outcome of the reaction is to some extent dependent both on the substitution pattern on the bridgehead (9a) aryl group and on the waveleng
SUBSTITUENT AND WAVELENGHT EFFECT IN THE PHOTOCHEMISTRY OF 5,6,7,8-TETRACHLORO-3a,9a-DIHYDRO-2,3,9a-TRIARYLFURO(2,3-b)(1,4)BENZODIOXIN DERIVATIVES
Horspool, William M.,Khalaf, Abedawn I.
, p. 3745 - 3748 (2007/10/02)
A study of the photoreactions of some triarylfurobenzodioxin derivatives has shown that the outcome is dependent on the type and position of the substitution on the 9a-aryl group.A wavelenght dependence is also reported.
