Tetraphenylantimony 2,3-and 2,4-dimethylbenzenesulfonates were prepared from pentaphenylantimony and the corresponding triphenylantimony disulfonates. According to results of single crystal X-ray diffraction study, the antimony atom in 2,4-dimethylbenzenesulfonate has a trigonal bipyramidal configuration with the axial oxygen atom of the sulfo group. The Sb-O bond length is 2.464(4) A, and the Sb-C bond lengths, 2.101(6), 2.102(6), 2.111(7), and 2.131(6) A; the CaSbCe angles are 99.4(2)°, 97.1(2)°, and 100.9(3)° and the CaSbO angle is 175.2(2)°.
