2-Substituted dimethoxyl(1,4-pentadienyl)boranes, which are obtained by the condensation of trialkylborane with acetylenic compounds followed by methanolysis, react with iodine in the presence of NaOH to form 2-substituted 1-iodo-1,4-pentadienes.
