Carboxylate-stabilised sulfur ylides (thetin salts) in asymmetric epoxidation for the synthesis of glycidic acids. Mechanism and implications
Aggarwal, Varinder K.,Hebach, Christina
, p. 1419 - 1427 (2007/10/03)
The reaction of carboxylate-stabilised sulfur ylides (thetin salts) with aldehydes and ketones has been investigated. Using both achiral and chiral sulfur ylides, good yields were obtained with dimsylsodium or LHMDS as bases in DMSO or THF-DMSO mixtures.

Methods for the synthesis of the spirolactone [3-hydroxy-2-oxo-1-oxaspiro[4.5]-dec-3-ene, 3] and the sodium salts of two new α-keto acids [(1-cyclohexenyl)glyoxylate 1, β-(1-hydroxycyclohexane)pyruvate (enol form, 2)] are described. These compounds are ex
A convenient synthesis of aziridine-2-carboxylic esters
Legters, Johan,Thijs, Lambertus,Zwanenburg, Binne
, p. 1 - 15 (2007/10/02)
Optically active oxirane-2-carboxylic esters, prepared from allylic alcohols employing the Sharpless epoxidation, were treated with sodium azide. The azido alcohols obtained were subsequently converted into aziridine-2-carboxylic esters by reaction with triphenylphosphine, in good yields and with high optical purity.Various racemic oxirane-2-carboxylic esters were subjected to the same sequence of reactions.
Metal Exchange between an Electrogenerated Organonickel Species and Zinc Halide: Application to an Electrochemical, Nickel-Catalyzed Reformatsky Reaction
Conan, Annie,Sibille, Soline,Perichon, Jacques
, p. 2018 - 2024 (2007/10/02)
The mechanism of the electroreductive coupling of α-chloro esters or α-chloro nitriles with carbonyl compounds by the means of a sacrificial zinc anode and a nickel catalyst was elucidated by electroanalytical techniques. The mechanism involved reduction of a Ni(II) complex to a Ni(0) complex, oxidative addition of the α-chloro ester to the Ni(0) complex, and a Zn(II)/Ni(II) exchange, leading to an organozinc Reformatsky reagent. The electrosynthesis of various β-hydroxy esters, β-hydroxy nitriles, and 2,3-epoxy esters was successfully achieved under extremely mild conditions.
ELECTROREDUCTIVE COUPLING OF METALLYLCHLORIDE OR METHYL CHLOROACETATE WITH CARBONYL COMPOUNDS CAATLYZED BY NICKEL BIPYRIDINE COMPLEXES
Sibille, Soline,d'Incan, Esther,Leport, Luis,Massebiau, Marie-Claude,Perichon, Jacques
, p. 55 - 58 (2007/10/02)
An efficient electrosynthesis of homoallyl alcohols or β-hydroxy esters in the presence of catalytic amounts of the NiBr2(2,2'-bipyridine) complex has been developed from mixed electrolysis of metellylchloride, or methyl chloroacetate with several carbonyl compounds, using a one-compartment cell equiped with a sacrificial zinc anode.
