The invention relates to a preparation method of (RS)-1-(4-chlorphenyl)-4,4-dimethyl-3-(1H-1,2,4-triazol-1-ylmethyl)pent-3-ol. The method comprises the following step: with 2-[2-(4-chlorophenyl)ethyl]-2-(1,1-dimethylethyl)-oxirane as an initial raw material, performing a ring-opening condensation reaction on the initial raw material and 1,2,4-1H-triazole to prepare (RS)-1-(4-chlorphenyl)-4,4-dimethyl-3-(1H-1,2,4-triazol-1-ylmethyl)pent-3-ol, wherein the reaction is performed under the conditions of alkali and a catalyst, and the catalyst is one or more selected from a group consisting of polyethylene glycol, polyethylene glycol monomethyl ether, polyethylene glycol dimethyl ether and crown ether. The method has the advantages of relatively simple process, readily available raw materials, low toxicity, low cost, low amount of three wastes and higher target product content and yield, and is suitable for industrial production.
