Synthesis, crystal structure and transesterification reaction of the β-propoxy-carbonylethyltin trichloride complex with dibenzylsulfoxide have been reported and a possible mechanism for the transesterification has been suggested. A series of the complexes of β-alkoxycarbonylethyltin trichloride with dibenzylsulfoxide have been synthesized and characterized by means of elemental analyses, IR, and 1H NMR spectra.
