We describe tandem combinations of Suzuki-aza-Wittig, Suzuki-condensation and aza-Wittig-electrocyclic ring closure reactions for the synthesis of new pyridazino[4,5-c]isoquinolinone, pyridazino[4,5-c]quinolinone and pyrimido[5,4-c]quinoline derivatives.

New synthetic approach to pyridazino[4,5-b]indoles by Pd(O)-catalyzed cross-coupling reaction

5-Iodo-2-methylpyridazin-3(2H)-one readily underwent Suzuki coupling with protected anilinoboronic acids to yield the corresponding arylpyridazinones which proved to be suitable starting compounds to a ring closure - a 4 step pathway - to pyridazino[4,5-b]indoles.
