Description
Amiprofos-methyl (APM) is a phosphoric amide herbicide that exhibits specific antitubulin effects in plants, inhibiting their growth and development. It is known for its ability to reversibly decrease the root and shoot length of H. vulgare and inhibit in vitro polymerization of tubulin in a dose-dependent manner. APM also has an impact on calcium accumulation and efflux in corn mitochondria and rat liver mitochondria, respectively. Additionally, it has shown potential in inhibiting the growth of P. falciparum.
Uses
Used in Agricultural Industry:
Amiprofos-methyl is used as a herbicide for controlling the growth of unwanted plants, particularly in herbicide compositions. Its antitubulin effects make it an effective agent in managing plant growth and development, leading to improved crop yields and reduced competition for resources among plants.
Used in Pharmaceutical Research:
Amiprofos-methyl is used as a research compound for studying its effects on microtubule polymerization in P. falciparum trophozoites. Its ability to inhibit microtubule polymerization at specific concentrations can provide valuable insights into the development of new antimalarial drugs and understanding the underlying mechanisms of action.
Biochem/physiol Actions
Herbicide that prevents microtubule polymerization in plant cells, but not animal cells. Crop plants resistant to amiprofos-methyl and several other herbicides have been developed by insertion of a xenobiotic-detoxifying human gene CYP2B6.
Safety Profile
A poison by ingestion. Lowtoxicity by skin contact. When heated to decomposition itemits toxic vapors of NOx, SOx, and POx.
Check Digit Verification of cas no
The CAS Registry Mumber 36001-88-4 includes 8 digits separated into 3 groups by hyphens. The first part of the number, starting from the left, has 5 digits, 3,6,0,0 and 1 respectively; the second part has 2 digits, 8 and 8 respectively.
Calculate Digit Verification of CAS Registry Number 36001-88:
(7*3)+(6*6)+(5*0)+(4*0)+(3*1)+(2*8)+(1*8)=84
84 % 10 = 4
So 36001-88-4 is a valid CAS Registry Number.
