Studies of hydrogen-bonded complexes of 4-methoxybenzonitrile in ground and lowest triplet states by IR, phosphorescence, and 15N NMR spectra
Bocharov,Bureiko,Golubev,Shajakhmedov
, p. 57 - 62 (1998)
The formation of hydrogen-bonded complexes between 4-methoxybenzonitrile and various OH proton donors was studied in solution in the ground electronic state by means of IR absorption spectra, and the ΔH values were measured. The upfield shift of purely electronic 0-0 transition is observed in low temperature phosphorescence spectra under the interaction, the values of this shift for different proton donor molecules being correlated with the chemical shifts of 15N NMR signals under the complex formation. The nature of observed anomalous N signal shift in NMR spectra was explained by a decrease of paramagnetic deshielding because of the mixing of ground and lowest triplet electronic states of the nitrile studied.
Copper-mediated cyanation of aryl halide with the combined cyanide source
Zhang, Guoying,Ren, Xinyi,Chen, Jianbin,Hu, Maolin,Cheng, Jiang
supporting information; experimental part, p. 5004 - 5007 (2011/11/12)
A simple copper-mediated cyanation of aryl halide with the combination of ammonium bicarbonate and N,N-dimethylformamide as a cyanide source is achieved, providing nitriles in moderate to good yields. This new approach represents an exceedingly practical and safe method for the synthesis of aryl nitriles.
13C and 15N Chemical Shift Tensors of Para-Substituted Benzonitriles
Sardashti, Maziar,Maciel, Gary E.
, p. 4620 - 4632 (2007/10/02)
The principal elements of the 13C and 15N chemical shift tensors of a series of 10 para-substituted benzonitriles, enriched in 15N, have been determined. For the 15N case the static powder patterns spinning sideband methods have been employed and compared.
