Ovdenko, Valeriia,Kolendo, Aleksey
, p. 113 - 121 (2016)
It was convenient preparative method of new methacrylic monomers with banana-shaped structure and photoactive azomethine fragments synthesis. To determine the effect of large azomethine fragment on the process of homopolymerization, symmetrical model compounds with simpler structure were synthesized. The kinetic of its thermally initiated radical polymerization in DMF solution was studied and compared with the kinetics of model compounds does not containing bulky photochromic fragment. Peculiarities of photo initiated processes of E,Z-isomerization were studied.

, p. 12246 - 12249 (2018)
A self-reporting, profluorescent, visible light-induced release system is introduced. Fluorescence activation is enabled by a mild remote trigger signal that can be monitored with the naked-eye in real time. The light-responsive spin-silenced polymer is synthesized via an Ugi post-polymerization modification incorporating paramagnetic nitroxides and a light cleavable fluorophore moiety.

, p. 9032 - 9045 (2020)
A set of new methacrylate monomers based on azobenzene/azomethine moieties coupled with an antipyrine heterocyclic fragment was designed. Their free radical polymerization provided six homo-/copolymers with photoactive side chains. These novel materials were characterized with NMR, IR and UV-vis spectroscopies, as well as DSC and SEC. Their THF solutions demonstrated an efficient refractive nonlinear optical (NLO) response with an optical quality factor, FOM, of 102-2 × 103via self-action of single picosecond range laser pulses at a wavelength of 532 nm. Their efficiency enhances in the following set of chromophores: azomethine azo bis-azomethine. The polymers exhibit higher cubic hyperpolarizabilities against their corresponding initial molecules, while the fractional contribution of the photoactive group reduces. Incorporation of bis-structured units improves both the polymer properties and the NLO response efficiency of the materials. The fractional contribution of a photochromic group to the macromolecular refractive/absorptive NLO optical responses was analyzed for the first time. This journal is
New synthesis method to obtain a methacrylic monomer with a pyrylium group
Bustamante, Saúl E.,Rivas, Bernabé L.
, p. 3558 - 3561 (2017)
Methacrylic monomers with pyrylium salt derivatives are widely used to detect nucleophilic species. A new synthesis method has been used to obtain a pyrylium salt that is trisubstituted with phenyl groups at positions 2,4, and 6. The phenyl group of the 4-position has a metacrylate group in the para-position. The new synthesis method implies the esterification of 4-hydroxybenzaldehyde, using methacrylic anhydride. The formed compound react with acetophenone to form the pyrylium derivative. The yields of both reactions are greater than those previously reported in the literature.

, p. 34659 - 34665 (2016/06/13)
Phosphorus-containing polymers have been found wide applications in many fields. In this work, a new kind of phosphorus-containing monomer with α-hydroxy phosphonate 4-((diethoxyphosphoryl)(hydroxy)methyl)phenyl methacrylate (PHMA) was firstly synthesized, and then copolymerization of PHMA and methyl methacrylate (MMA) was carried out via reversible addition-fragmentation chain transfer (RAFT) polymerization. The copolymerization kinetics and successful chain-extension reaction using the resultant PPHMA-co-PMMA confirmed the features of "living"/controlled radical polymerization. According to the thermal gravimetric analyzer (TGA) test, the thermal stability of the resultant phosphorus-containing copolymers increased significantly compared to the conventional methacrylate polymer materials due to the attachment of the phosphonate groups into the side chain of the copolymers. In addition, its superior flame-retardant performance was verified by the micro-scale combustion calorimetry (MCC) test. Meanwhile, the hydrophilicity of the phosphorus-containing copolymers was reflected by water contact angle measurement.

experimental part, p. 263/[1011]-270/[1018] (2009/10/11)
Oxazalone and thiazolidinone derivatives were synthesized and their physicochemical properties are determined by absorption, HNMR spectroscopies. The third order nonlinear optical properties of oxazolone and thiazolidinone containing compounds were investigated in solutions using degenerate four wave mixing (DFWM) method at 532 nm.

New Polymerizable Liquid Crystal Materials with 1,3-Dioxane or 1,3-Dithiane Ring
Haramoto, Y.,Kamogawa, H.,Ujiie, S.
, p. 41 - 50 (2007/10/02)
New polymerizable liquid crystal materials: 4-(5-Alkyl-1,3-dioxan-2-yl)-phenyl acrylate (7) and 4-(5-alkyl-1,3-dithiane-2-yl)phenyl acrylates (8) have been synthesized. The corresponding methacrylates were also synthesized. The mesomorphic behavior of these compounds was measured.Though compounds (7) and (7') exhibit the smectic phase, compounds (8) and (8') did not exhibit the smectic phase. This must cause by the wider molecular width of compounds (8) and (8') having two big sulfur atoms.Monomers (7), (7'), (8), and (8') were polymerized and new liquid crystal polymers were obtained.Though dioxane type polymers (Po-7, Po-7') exhibited the nematic liquid crystal phase, the corresponding 1,3-dithiane type polymers did not. - Keywords: 1,3-Dioxane, 1,3-Dithiane, liquid-crystal polymer

, p. 15 - 20 (2007/10/02)
New polymerizable liquid crystal materials: 4-(5-alkyl-1,3-oxathian-2-yl)-phenylacrylate (9) and 4-(5-alkyl-1,3-oxathian-2-yl)-phenyl methacrylates (9') have been synthesized and converted into respective polymers.Polymer 9' having the 1,3-oxathiane ring in their principal structure show a shlieren texture of nematic liquid crystal phase (G 81 N 140 I), therefore this is a new type of liquid crystal polymer having 1,3-oxathiane ring in their principal structure. - Keywords: 1,3-oxathiane, liquid-crystal polymer
